PLANFORLAB

PLANFORLAB Activities

To achieve the objectives set out in PLANFORLAB, the following activities will be carried out:

Activity 1

Creation of the network of innovative laboratory forests and its implementation through several key activities

Firstly, interregional workshops will be organized to design these forests, selecting three of them based on criteria such as pest impact and soil quality. Visits will be made to laboratory forests in France to learn from their experience, and specific monitoring protocols will be developed to adapt to climate change and enhance the resilience of pine species.

Activity 2

Production and Testing of Improved Forest Genetic Material

  • Plants of Pinus pinaster resistant to nematodes will be characterized and multiplied, with the goal of cultivating at least 5,000 plants in nurseries. Resistance tests will be conducted under different conditions to ensure the viability of the improved material.

Activity 3

Establishment of Test and Demonstration Plots in Laboratory Forests

These plots, each measuring 2 hectares, will be used to analyze soil conditions and pest presence through early detection techniques, facilitating the monitoring of environmental variables.

Activity 4

Establishment of a Digital Collaboration Network

Through the creation of an online platform, real-time monitoring and knowledge transfer between researchers, forest managers, and landowners will be enabled. A communication plan will also be implemented to raise awareness and promote innovative solutions in the forestry sector through workshops and publications.

Activity 5

Project Dissemination Plan

The dissemination plan will be divided into two parts:

  1. Communication and dissemination: This will involve the creation of materials and content, and the implementation of activities to present the project and share its progress in a more general way, targeting both key sectors and the general public.
  2. Engagement and results transfer activities: Materials will be developed and activities conducted specifically aimed at promoting the adoption of the innovative solutions developed during the execution of the project within the forestry sector.
