Here’s how the PLANFORLAB Technical Seminar went in Vega de Espinareda

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the PLANFORLAB Task Force held a technical seminar titled “Innovation, Forest Health, and Adaptive Management in the Region” in the auditorium of the Vega de Espinareda City Hall (León).

The event began with a reception for attendees and an official opening ceremony attended by representatives from the Regional Government of Castile and León, the Neighborhood Council, and FAFCYLE. Next, Francisco Dans, from the Galician Forestry Association (AFG), outlined the main milestones of the PLANFORLAB project.

The session then turned to an analysis of the forestry and plant health situation of conifers in Castile and León, followed by a roundtable discussion featuring experts from the University of Valladolid, the University of León, the Basque Country Forestry Confederation (CFPV), CESEFOR, COSE, AFG, and FAFCYLE. During this discussion, the main challenges and opportunities facing the forestry sector were brought to the table, highlighting the importance of innovation, inter-institutional collaboration, and adaptation to new health and climate scenarios.

The day concluded with a field trip to the Vega de Espinareda experimental forest, where participants were able to see firsthand the activities carried out as part of the project.

Este seminario contribuyó a reforzar la transferencia de conocimiento entre administración, comunidad científica y propietarios forestales, consolidando el papel de PLANFORLAB como iniciativa clave para el futuro sostenible de las masas de coníferas.
