Operational Groups, the main actors in the implementation of EIP-Agri (European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability), are one of the key tools in the execution of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Strategic Plan 2023–2027 to foster innovation in the agri-food and forestry sectors within the European context.
They are composed of diverse stakeholders with common interests—such as farmers, livestock breeders, companies, research centers, training institutions, and knowledge dissemination organizations—who join forces to launch an innovation project aimed at providing a joint, cross-sectoral solution to a specific problem or need.
Through the Resolution of August 5, 2024, by the Spanish Agrarian Guarantee Fund (FEGA), which announced the call for grants to support innovation projects of general interest by supra-regional Operational Groups under the European Innovation Partnership on Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability (EIP-Agri), as part of Spain’s CAP Strategic Plan (PEPAC), and published in advance in 2023,
the Operational Group “Network of laboratory forests with improved plants to increase resilience and productivity in coniferous woodlands” (PLANFORLAB), with a total budget of €599,134.24, was awarded a grant of €599,134.24, co-financed 80% by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and 20% by funds from the General State Administration, in accordance with Royal Decree 169/2018 of March 23.
The Directorate-General for Rural Development, Innovation and Forestry Policy is the managing authority responsible for the implementation of both the EAFRD and the corresponding national funds.
