PLANFORLAB

PLANFORLAB Results

The expected results of the PLANFORLAB project are as follows:

1. Establishment of three laboratory forests, one in each participating region: Castilla y León, Galicia, and the Basque Country, with innovative silvicultural models designed for Pinus pinaster, Pinus sylvestris, and Pinus radiata species, aimed at reducing disease risk and improving climate change resilience.

2. Production of improved reproductive material (via sexual and vegetative propagation) for the mentioned species to be used in laboratory forests, employing silvicultural models and generating material for controlled greenhouse trials.

3. Installation of test and demonstration plots in the laboratory forests, each with a minimum area of 2 hectares, allowing data comparison and evaluation of pathogen resistance in the reproductive material.

4. Creation of a digital monitoring network that will provide access to data on laboratory forests and test plots, promoting the dissemination of results to forest managers, service companies, nurseries, and other stakeholders.
